How do I optimize my site for search engines?
Increasing the visibility of your eteamz website via search engines (such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo) requires the utilization of tools built into eteamz as well as industry search engine optimization (SEO) methodologies. Please note that we can assist with questions respective to updating your eteamz site details, however we do not control search engines so we are unable to assist with such inquiries. The details under SEO Methodologies are primarily available through external or third-party websites.
Updating your eteamz site to become more relevant and searchable is primarily achieved using the site information found under My Site Design > Listing. The other fields included are also important, but the focus of this article will be on Site Name, Organization Name, Site Description, and Search.
Site NameThis is the name that will appear in the title bar of your web site home page. For example, your site name could be "The LA Tigers" or "Rob's Sports Achievements". Click here for additional details on Site Name.
Organization NameThis is the name your site will appear as within the eteamz site finder (sub-sites not included). If you're making updates or just now creating your site, it may take up to a day to officially update within the site finder.
NOTE: League and Team sub-sites will not be listed in the finder. The MAIN Organization or League site will be listed as this is ideally where you will drive visitors. Once visitors locate the Organization or League site they can drill down into sub-sites. Click here for additional details on Organization Name.
Site DescriptionUse the Site Description text box to enter information about the purpose of your site. The site description is used in the site finder when a viewer wants to get more info about the site. Click here for additional details on Site Description.
SearchThe Site Finder is a list of sites hosted by eteamz. This tool allows you to find organizations, leagues, or teams using eteamz that are located in the United States and Canada. You may perform a general search using keywords, or refine your search parameters based on location, sport, organization, etc.
NOTE: It will take 24-48 hours to update the Site Finder with any changes made to your site listing.
Visit eteamz.com/search to access the site finder.
SEO Methodologies (external)
Outside of the eteamz platform there is an infinite list of tools and functions to make your site more relevant, and therefore easier to find via a search. Below are a handful of such steps, but we recommend identifying your own methods.
- Keywords: Using relevant keywords tends to improve the visibility of a site during searches. This includes (but is not limited to) site title/title tag, meta description, and general site content. Click here to check out Google's Keyword tool.
- Frequent Updates: Updating your site content often may drive crawlers to return to collect the new information from your site. In turn, this means your site may be crawled more often and thus may be continually more relevant.
- Linking: A site is generally returned as more relevant via a search when other sites link back to it. Think of it like this: If you simply list your website on the internet, folks may come across it but they won't be sure it's what they're looking for. If other companies, organizations, leagues, or teams link back to your site then search engines will view your site as more relevant, and everyone accessing those websites will in turn find your site.
Facebook is an excellent example of relevancy - most companies have a Facebook page and link back to it from their website. In turn, Facebook and the company page in question both become more relevant. Conversely, the company also links back to their website from the Facebook page (which also increases relevance).

CAUTION: Be wary of advertisements from companies guaranteeing they will make your site more accessible via searches. Google and Bing (for example) cannot guarantee a top search spot, and their search engines crawl sites for free. While you may consider contracting a company to help you with SEO, eteamz and ACTIVE Network do not endorse any outside vendors.
